The Energex® Device was developed to utilize Pulsed Radio Frequency
Energy (PRFE) to create low-level electrical stimulation in tissue to relieve
joint pain.
The
Energex Device generates radio-frequency energy in the 460 kHz range. The
energy is pulsed: rapidly cycled on and off at 660 Hz. The device is a compact
tabletop unit with an applicator attached used for applying treatment.

The
basic function of the device is to generate a specific high frequency, high
voltage electrical signal at the tip of the applicator. This electrical signal
induces a "corona discharge" at the output surface of the applicator.
The "corona discharge" energy, which ionizes the air within the applicator tube, is ground seeking. The unique design of the device allows for treatment to be pinpointed directly to the affected area, ensuring that the energy is not dissipated through healthy tissue. The PRFE causes an increase in the oxygenated hemoglobin blood flow to the area.
